California’s AIDS Drug
Assistance Program Saved!
Hundreds of people, including AHP clients, rallied at in Sacramento on Monday, March 8, for day of SAVE ADAP events to challenge the Governor’s proposal to cap enrollment in the program and avoid a $25 million increase in the program’s cost.
As a result of such advocacy, the Senate and Assembly approved legislation that would have funneled $15 million toward the program. And in May, the Governor’s final budget included an additional $27 million to meet increased enrollment, the use of additional drugs by current enrollees, and increased drug prices.
