Job Summary
For 27 years, the AIDS Health Project’s Publications and Training Unit has sought to transform the agency's unique direct service experience into counseling approaches for other providers and to disseminate these approaches in face-to-face and online trainings and publications including newsletters and books. AHP is the primary developer of HIV test counseling curricula in the state and the primary trainer of state-funded programs. Further, AHP trainers undertake training in a CDC-designated “effective behavioral intervention”—Personalized Cognitive Counseling—which was developed by AHP and develops trainings on cultural competency, in particular, regarding LGBT-related populations. Under the supervision of the Publications and Training Manager, the position of Trainer/Curriculum Writer is responsible for developing and implementing AHP face-to-face and online trainings, including researching the state of the art on topics such as behavior change, counseling theory, sexuality and sexual behavior, substance use, cultural competence, and testing technology; will also perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
BA/BS with a major in a related field and three years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent facilitation and training skills; excellent interpersonal skills, in particular, capacity to work with a co-trainer, with a team of trainers, and with a diverse group of participants; well-developed capacity to objectively evaluate participants’ progress toward learning goals; excellent writing and curriculum writing and development skills; highly developed ability to diagnose a learning goal and identify the key components of a learning process that will lead to the successful achievement of that goal; knowledge of adult learning theory; counseling experience, ideally HIV test counseling, experience working with HIV and populations affected by HIV; training experience; significant knowledge of the HIV-related and LGBTQ-related fields; knowledge of counseling theory; cultural competence; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated excellence in reliability and attendance. Physical Demands: requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs, reaching up to shoulder height; pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting, standing, walking, waist twisting, kneeling; carrying/lifting 31-60pounds; gripping/grasping, fine/gross finger manipulation; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; may be exposed to chemical agents; tuberculosis, blood, body fluids or tissue, and radiological materials; latex, dust, fumes or gases; loud noises; differentiate color; use protective equipment; operate motor vehicle.

Job Summary
The Nurse Consultant position exists to monitor clinical assessments and level of care for AIDS Medi-Cal Waiver Program (MCWP) clients. This position is critical to provide clinical expertise, conduct performance and compliance reviews and technical assistance for MCWP funded agencies to ensure quality care is being provided to medically vulnerable clients with HIV/AIDS. Incumbent will be responsible for providing expert health care and nursing consultation, technical assistance, and training to MCWP contractors on the HIV disease process, HIV care and treatment, and the provision of case management; conducts statewide monitoring site visits of MCWP and Care Program projects; conducts new project director orientations; assists contractors in developing and implementing Quality Improvement (QI)/Quality Management (QM) programs; conduct site visit reviews to MCWP funded agencies, complete client chart reviews, provide on-site technical assistance and follow-up reports of findings; participates in program planning, development, revision, and evaluation of program requirements; represents the section on various task forces/advisory committees; provides leadership and consultation within the branch or section on special projects, as needed; maintains an expert knowledge base on HIV disease, case management, health care systems, and the continuum of home and community based care in the public and private sectors; writes sections of the reports and applications required by federal funders and/or Medi-Cal; makes oral presentations on programs and policies as required; will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing. A Diploma or Associate degree and three years of clinical experience, two of which have had an administrative component; or a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and two years of clinical experience, one of which has had an administrative component; or a Master's degree in Nursing and one year of clinical experience, six months of which have had an administrative component; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position; ability to analyze clinical data and assess level of medical care needs receiving medical case management as well as other support services; knowledge of medical case management principles and standards of care; ability to apply increasing independence in clinical judgment, management concepts and provide counseling; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative work environment; able to follow written and verbal directions accurately; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated excellence in reliability and attendance. Physical Demands: requires reaching up to shoulder height; pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds; sitting, standing, walking; carrying/lifting 0-20 pounds; fine finger manipulation; repetitive movements of upper extremities; differentiate color; operate motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of HIV and AIDS disease process and clinical standards of care for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA); previous experience working with PLWHA and medical providers who serve PLWHA; prior UCSF or UC experience.
