AHP Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy sets forth the practices in effect at the UCSF AIDS Health Project to protect the privacy of its web site visitors, financial supporters, and recipients of AHP’s subscription publications. AHP wants you to have positive experiences at our web site and to fully understand your privacy rights as they pertain to usage of our site. If you do not agree with the terms outlined below, we suggest that you do not use the interactive aspects of AHP's web site.

Non-Personal Information

AHP collects and uses non-personal identifying information, including IP addresses and web domains, for statistical purposes to calculate visitation and usage of the web site. AHP does not use cookies (small pieces of information used to identify individual computers accessing a web site).

AHP uses this non-personal information only in the aggregate. AHP does not combine non-personal information with personal information, a practice commonly known as "online profiling."

AHP shares aggregated, non-identifying information about web site usage with its sponsors and partners. For example, AHP might disclose to its donors that 1,000,000 people visited ucsf-ahp.org in a given year.

Personal Information

If you voluntarily provide personal information (such as a first and last name, physical address including a street name, e-mail address, etc.) through online forms, AHP will collect and retain this information. AHP uses this information to establish your identity as an account holder in order to respond to your inquiries or to deliver information or services you request.

If you make an online donation to AHP while at ucsf-ahp.org or are already a donor, please see the Supporters section below for additional information.

Supporters’ Personal Information
AHP is committed to maintaining the confidence and trust of its financial supporters. After someone donates to AHP, his or her information is added to AHP's donor database. AHP uses this information to keep donors informed about the progress of its programs and to encourage continued financial support of our work.

AHP’s online donation process occurs within a secure portion of the ucsf-ahp.org web site. Submissions are encrypted and secure from outside users via OpenSSL, the industry standard for secure online transactions. All personal information—including credit card number, name, and address—is encrypted so it cannot be intercepted as transactions are conducted over the internet.

AHP shares donor information with business partners as required in the usual course of business. For example, AHP may use an outside company to assist in the generation and distribution of written communications to donors. Such outside vendors may not use this information for other purposes.

AHP will not sell, rent, exchange, or otherwise use information collected from supporters except in the ways stated in this section.

AHP Publications Recipients’ Personal Information

As part of its public service, AHP publishes and distributes three newsletters:FOCUS: A Guide to AIDS Research and Counseling; HIV Counselor PERSPECTIVES; and AHP Events and Services. In order to receive AHP publications, an individual must provide personal information (such as a first and last name, physical address including a street name, e-mail address, etc). AHP will collect and retain this information.

This personal information is used to establish the identity of recipients, deliver requested publications to recipients, and make recipients aware of additional or new AHP publications that might interest them. In order to evaluate the usefulness of its materials, AHP may also contact, by telephone, e-mail, or regular mail, people who have ordered its publications.

AHP may share information with business partners in the usual course of business. For example, AHP may use an outside company to help distribute publications. Finally, AHP does not disclose individual order histories, but may disclose aggregated order histories for its publications.

AHP will not share this personal identifying information in any other way, unless a recipient “opts in.” That is, he or she must explicitly agree to share personal identifying information before AHP will give it to or exchange it with other organizations that share AHP’s educational and programmatic goals. AHP will never sell or rent this information. For more information about opting in, please go to the e-subscription form for FOCUS and PERSPECTIVES:
